Obverse Die Crack CT96-3

This faint, three-segment die crack is mostly contained within the core. The primary segment starts near the L in ELIZABETH and is mostly straight passing through the hair, temple and eyebrow extending to the edge of the core near the G in D·G·. The upper segment extends from the primary segment near the ear through the crown to the left of the square jewelled cross to the edge of the core. The lower segment extends from the primary segment at the eye through the nose toward the edge of the core near the N in REGINA.

This is a progressive die crack and is found in two varieties:

  • CT96-3a: Primary segment only and it does not cross into the ring.
  • CT96-3b: All three segments.

Obverse Die Crack CT96-3a is commonly paired with a 340° Rotated Die while CT96-3b is commonly paired with Reverse Die Crack F2.
